Poetic Propensities and Greyt Words: “Thunderstorm”

It’s no secret that I love to rhyme. In fact, the majority of the picture books that I write begin in my head as lyrics! In honor of these poetic propensities, I would like to share with you another poem from my  “Greyt Words” collection. Originally published on the Northern Lights Greyhound Adoption Dog Blog, this springtime-inspired poem is all about thunderstorms . . . from the perspective of a greyhound!

Thunderstorm
By Katie Gilstrap

A sprinkle of rain –
a flash in the sky –
a thunderous roar –
and suddenly I
can sense that a storm
is just up ahead.
I need to take shelter!
(I’ll hide in your bed.)
