Happy 2020! The new year is upon us, and for those of us in the Midwest, so is the wrath of winter. I don’t mind hunkering down indoors on those cold and dreary afternoons, but my dog tends to get cabin fever if she doesn’t have at least an hour or two of fresh air each day. Naturally, I see to it that she gets it! To protect her from the elements, I bought her a fleece coat that she has now learned to associate with playtime. So to celebrate her affinity for the world outside and the wardrobe required to enjoy it, this month’s poem is all about winter playtime from the perspective of my pup!

Please wrap me in my coat and scarf
so I can go outside.
There’s so much of the world to see
from near to far and wide!
And I can’t let a little bit of
snow get in my way
of going out and making an
adventure of my day!
