Thanksgiving is just one week away, which means there will soon be lots and lots of food around. Although I don’t typically like to feed my hound from the table, he always manages to snag a few scraps on holidays . . .

Near the kitchen stove he lies,
watching with his eager eyes
pots and pans and dishes full
of turkey, beans, and casserole.
Even though it’s food he’s craving,
he won’t think of misbehaving.
If he waits, he knows he’ll score
the scraps that tumble to the floor!
